NBC has put in a series order for the comedy Mr. Robinson from The Office‘s Craig Robinson.
The network had previously put in a pilot order for the comedy when Greg Daniels was still attached to the project, reports Variety. Daniels has since left.
At the moment NBC has only ordered six episodes of Mr. Robinson. Mark Cullen, Howard Klein, Rob Cullen and Mark Schulman are on board to executive produce.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy will follow Robinson’s character who gets hired to be a middle school music teacher where he both pushes school rules to their limits and teaches kids all type of musical genres.
Co-stars from the pilot, Larenz Tate, Amanda Lund, Steve Little, Jean Smart, and Amandla Stenberg are expected to receive deals to return to for the show. Owen Ellickson, of The Office wrote the pilot script.
Mr. Robinson was part of several pilots that were up for possible series order, alongside Krysten Ritter’s Assistance, which NBC decided not to continue with.
In October, the This Is The End actor was arrested, deported and fined while in the Bahamas after his luggage was found to contain nearly 20 pills of ecstasy and half a gram of marijuana.
