Satanists reveal plans for goat-headed statue at Oklahoma Capitol

Satanic Temple released plans on Monday for a statue it would like placed at the Oklahoma Capitol.

According to The Associated Press, the New York-based satanic group also has submitted an application on getting the 7-foot-tall statue of a goat-headed deity approved. The statue features said deity sitting on a throne emblazoned with a pentagram and with two children standing next to it.

Philly.com reports the Satanic Temple had designs made after a depiction of the Ten Commandments was privately funded and installed. Since the religious monument went up, others have also applied for a statue including, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a Hindu group and the satirical Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

The Ten Commandments monument is currently in the middle of an ACLU lawsuit to have it removed.

Satanic Temple spokesman Lucian Greaves said, "Either way you cut it, this is a First Amendment issue. Once they open that door, they can't discriminate."

He has said that their statue "will serve as a beacon calling for compassion and empathy among all living creatures." Greaves also added, "The statue will also have a functional purpose for a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation."
