Stephen Curry to start first NBA All-Star Game

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will start in his first NBA All-Star Game. Curry received the most votes for Western Conference guards from fans, totaling 1,047,281. Fans received the opportunity to vote every day until Jan. 20. The balloting was provided by Sprint.

According to NBA, Curry only trails Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant in Western Conference votes, who received 1,396,294. Miami Heat small forward LeBron James leads all players in votes with 1,416,419.

Curry received his recognition from fans by posting impressive numbers. He is currently averaging 23.5 points per game, along with 4.6 rebounds and 9.2 assists. Durant even posted on his Twitter account that Curry is "the best shooter to ever play", according to SFGate.

Under his play, the Warriors currently sit at sixth in the ultra-competitive Western Conference and are nine games above .500.

The NBA All-Star Game will be televised on TNT on Sunday, Feb. 16.
