This Week In Fashion: Victoria Beckham to open first store in London

>Victoria Beckham is taking her five-year-old brand to the next level and opening her first store in her native London this fall.

Chatting with WWD, Posh said, “I think the time is now because I know my customer. It will be the first time that the people will really be able to see the brand through my eyes.”

The store will be located on Dover Street in the Mayfair neighborhood, which is known for its historic clubs and architecture.

“It’s young and cool,” Mrs. Beckham said. “There are great galleries in the area. There’s Dover Street Market directly opposite of us, which is not a bad thing.”

To give her three-floor, 7,000 square foot space a facelift before the opening later this year, Beckham has hired architect Farshid Moussavi, whose previous designs include the 2012 London Olympic Park and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland.

“She is a woman who loves fashion,” VB gushed. “She has quite a conceptual eye, which I like. We want to make something different without making it overly complicated. I just want it to feel real for me.”

While the look of the space is indeed important, most women will be after her elegant clothes and accessories. The initial store will house her ready to wear collection as well as her Victoria Victoria Beckham line, accessories, eyewear and denim.

The always chic designer isn’t just stopping at conquering England; she’s got her sights set on New York as well, with the opening of an office. She will have a team take up residency in New York’s Chelsea district next month.

“I’m taking my business very seriously,” Beckham said. “To take it to the next level, I need a team on the ground living and breathing everything here in America.”

Here’s to the British fashion invasion.
