With American Idol set to return in just a few days, fans are taking a moment to look back at former winners and see how far members of the singing reality show have some.
Idol was one of the first singing competitions to take over television. Fans voted by the millions to help name the first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson. As the show continued on, fans realized that the goal was not to win the competition; it was just to crack the top ten. Artists like Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson and Katharine McPhee all fell short of the top spot on Idol but are huge musical superstars and even an Oscar winner.
