Sandra Bullock quickly gained film success in the 1990s. She appeared in films like Demolition Man (1993), Speed (1994), While You Were Sleeping (1995), which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress,, and Hope Floats (1998). In the early 2000s, Sandra became comedy gold with her roles in Miss Congeniality (2000), earning her second Golden Globe nomination, and Two Weeks Notice (2002). Her acting took a more serious note in the commercially successful Crash in 2004.
Her biggest year was 2009, where she received another Golden Globe nomination for her role in the comedy The Proposal. That was three nominations and no wins, until the box office hit The Blind Side came along. Bullock played Leigh Anne Tuohy, who, along with her husband, adopted an impoverished boy named Michael Oher. It follows Oher’s story, leading up to him becoming a first-round pick in the NFL by the Baltimore Ravens. Bullock received a Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role,a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Actress.
In 2013, Bullock starred opposite Melissa McCarthy in the most financially successful comedy of the year, The Heat. Bullock then starred in the box office hit Gravity, which became one of the highest grossing films of the year. She is currently nominated for a Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor, a British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for Best Actress, and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. This is one of Bullocks lesser known films, but her performance was very well acted. You believe her struggle to stay clean, and the temptation of giving up. She draws in the audience and connects emotionally with them. This is a heartwarming film, and great to watch.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close tells the story of how Oskar Schell’s life changed after the tragedy of September 11. After loosing his dad in the attack, Oskar finds a key belonging to him. Traveling on a journey to find what this key opens, Oskar must meet new people and try to comfort his grieving mom in order to feel closure.
Bullock had a heart-wrenching performance in this film. Her heartbreak was believable. Though the film received mostly negative reviews from critics, it was nominated for an Academy Award, and Bullocks role was praised.

Two Weeks Notice is a romantic comedy that shows the timeline of the business relationship between Lucy Kelson and George Wade. What starts out as a full-time job, turns into a life consuming nuisance. But when George isn’t there to rely on Lucy anymore, she starts to miss it.
This film was pure joy. Bullock did an excellent job. Her role was truly comedic and witty. The chemistry between her and Hugh Grant was outstanding, and helped made the film more enjoyable. It is one of her best romantic comedies.
Crash is the story of racial and social discrimination in Los Angeles, California. The story weaves in the lives of different people, connecting them with a crash.
The all-star cast of this film includes Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Jennifer Esposito, Brendan Fraser, Terrence Howard, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Thandie Newton, Ryan Phillippe, Larenz Tate, and Michael Peña. It was nominated for six Academy Awards and won 3 including the Academy Award for Best Picture. Bullock’s role was highly praised, and critics even said it was her best performance so far in her career. She provided more of a serious side, one that audiences weren’t used to seeing from her previous work.

Bullock was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as he pushy boss who no one likes. Critics praised the chemistry between Bullock and Reynolds.The film marked the biggest opening weekend in Bullocks career at the time.

Gravity is the story of a medical engineer and an astronaut whose space shuttle is involved in a mid-orbit destruction. They must work together to try and make it back to earth.
Bullock did an excellent job, the amount of accolades she received is enough to prove it. However I believe the film is more visually pleasing then the acting. The special effects almost look real, and the work put into it is extraordinary. Bullock and George Clooney have great chemistry on screen. Bullock did an excellent job with the feeling of helplessness, and bringing the suspense to audiences. The film reached critical success, and became the highest grossing opening film of Bullock’s career, one that will be hard for her to beat. Bullock is currently nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
