Aaron Hernandez sued by families of victims of 2012 shootings

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has made news for all of the wrong reasons recently.

The families of the two victims of a 2012 shooting in Boston have filed wrongful death lawsuits against Hernandez, whom police believe is a suspect in the case, each seeking $6 million, the Associated Press reports.

The shooting took place in the South End of Boston where the two men killed were sitting in an SUV and another SUV pulled up and a person inside shot at them in July 2012, according the AP.

Hernandez is currently being held in prison without bail for murder and weapon charges regarding the murder of Odin Lloyd in June 2013 and is also facing charges of a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Lloyd's family in Bristol County and a civil action case taking place in Florida, according to Boston.com.

Final rulings on these cases are still yet to be made.

Hernandez has thrown away what seemed to be a promising career in the NFL with his off-field behavior. He was a very productive young tight end and was a major part of the Patriots' offense as one of quarterback Tom Brady's key targets.
