Body found during search for missing police captain

Authorities in Virginia have found a body that could be that of a missing police captain.

According to CNN, officials are working to identify the remains found on Thursday.

WTBR is reporting that sources have confirmed that the body is believed to be Waynesboro Police Department Reserve Unit Captain Kevin Quick.

Quick was last seen leaving his mother’s house last Friday night and was headed to see his daughter about 20 miles away. He never arrived and his family reported him missing the next day.

A break in the case came Tuesday night when police took three siblings in Alexandria into custody. Police linked the trio to a shooting in which the captain’s SUV was the alleged getaway car. The vehicle was found four miles from the scene of the crime.

Investigators were hoping that the brother and his two sisters could provide some information about what happened to the 45-year-old.

The body of the deceased was discovered off a road in a rural area.
