Father granted authority to unlock dead son's Facebook page

A Missouri father was recently granted permission to view his late son’s Facebook page nearly two years after his death.

According to John Berlin of St. Louis, MO, sent an emotional plea to Mark Zuckerberg asking the site to allow him the authority to unlock his late son, Jesse’s, social networking page.

This comes with a new feature the site is providing to celebrate its 10th anniversary, which contains a 62 second, personalized video that showcases the users history with their profile.

Berlin, wanted access to his son’s website, eager to see the video and photo compilations his son held. Jesse died in 2012 of natural causes at the young age of 21.

In less than two days, Berlin’s emotional and tearful video question to Zuckerberg reached more than 1 million views.

In the video, Berlin said, “I know it’s a shot in the dark, but I don’t care. I want to see my son’s video.”

On Wednesday night, Berlin happily posted on his YouTube account that he was granted permission from Facebook to unlock his son’s profile.

“He is proof that there are no guarantee’s in life. Hug your children, kiss them,” he commented.

This isn’t the first heart-felt story surrounding hopeful fathers and social media within the past week. Another father recently used social media to share letters he is writing to his young daughter as he battles prostate cancer.

Garth Callaghan is posting the videos on his personal site, Facebook and Twitter.
