fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff’s new group Bleachers releases first single 'I Wanna Get Better' (Audio)

Jack Antonoff is best known as the guitarist of fun. and as Lena Dunham’s boyfriend. But Antonoff is branching out with another project, Bleachers, which just released its first single today. The track is called “I Wanna Get Better.”

Thanks to Antonoff’s star status, the group will jump from its first ever live performance to a TV gig in a matter of days. MTV notes that the group will perform at SXSW in March. After that, they will appear on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Antonoff wrote and produced the song with John Hill, who has worked with Jay Z, M.I.A. and others. Depeche Mode’s Vince Clarke also assisted on production. Their album will be out this spring.

As for the track, it features multi-tracked vocals from Antonoff and a chorus that is ripe for sing-alongs with crowds. It sounds like fun., but a little different.

During an interview with Radio.com, Antonoff said that he had been recording for a year, but wasn’t so sure he wanted to take Bleachers public. Overall, though, the recordings bring together an ‘80s nostalgia with Antonoff’s talents.

“So I thought let’s get the guy who inspires me to write music in the first place, Vince and his aesthetic, on the album and then let’s get the guy, John Hill, whose mind only works in pushing things forward,” Antonoff said.
