Jadeveon Clowney sets impressive 4.53-second 40 at NFL Combine

With Jadeveon Clowney out to prove he should be the number one pick in the upcoming 2014 NFL draft, he managed to set an impressive 40 yard dash time on Monday at the NFL Combine.

On Saturday while talking with reporters at the Combine, Clowney had previously declared he would put up some "amazing" numbers, and he set at least one, his 40 yard dash time.

The former South Carolina defensive end set a 4.53-second time, beating another NFL prospect, Johnny Manziel, reports ESPN. That speed, combined with his 6 foot and 5 1/2 inch height and 83-inch wingspan should give teams something to think about.

The number might also help Clowney a little as his bench press numbers were considered to be below-average and many still question his decision making and work ethic, the latter being something his own former coach wondered about.

According to CBS Sports, some of the questions at the Combine came as a result of Clowney opting not to participate in on-field position drills. The NFL prospect claimed that it was because he has a tight hip flexor.

Three attending the Combine managed to post the only "official" under 4.5-second numbers, Isaac Hilton, Marcus Howard and Manny Lawson.
