Lena Dunham will receive gay rights honor

Actress and writer, Lena Dunham, best known for her work on the HBO series Girls has been chosen by the gay advocacy group, Point Foundation, to receive the Horizon Award for her support in the gay community.

Director and CEO of Point Foundation, Jorge Valencia, said in a statement “There is no one better at conveying the ambition of today's young adults to overcome obstacles and realize their great potential than Lena Dunham,” reportsThe Hollywood Reporter.

This award will come right after a quarrel with Jezebel, a feminist blog that posted re-touched photos of Dunham’s photo shoot from Vogue.

She stated that the photos were “this weird almost political maneuvering that I just had a lot of trouble respecting.”

According to Starpulse, Dunham will receive this honour during a gala at the New York Public Library on April 7.

“Dunham uses intelligent humor and compassion to present an honest appraisal of something our Point Scholars know all too well: the struggle to be comfortable in your own skin,” Valencia said.
