Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy saves a pile of pups in Sochi

An Olympic skier is making it his mission to save the puppies of Sochi while he competes.

According to Rant Sports, Freeskier, Gus Kenworthy, who is competing in slopestyle at the 2014 Sochi Olympics from Telluride, Colo., recently posted on his Twitter something adorable – a pile of puppies he’s trying to rescue.

Kenworthy posted several photos on his social media site showing off the stray puppies he found and is striving to save.

The American skier and Russian billionaire, Oleg Deripaska, are on a mission to save the stray dogs of Sochi. According to E! Online, Russian authorities thought the stray dogs who are roaming the city were a nuisance for the visitors during the opening ceremonies and hired a pest control company to kill the “biological trash.”

Deripaska, who is one of the richest men in Russia, was so outraged he used his own money to build shelters for the stray dogs and rescue as many as he could. The skier on the other hand told Twitter followers that he’s already starting to help his new little friends.

Kenworthy wrote on his feed, “Also for the people wondering, I’ve lined up kennels 4 the pups & made vaccination appointments. Doing all I can to bring them home w/ me!”

Now let’s see if he can bring home the gold!
