The Great Beauty is the story of Jeb Garbardella, a man in Rome. The movie stars Toni Servillo, Carlo Verdone, and Sabrina Ferilli. The film has had a great success on the festival circuit. It was nominated at the Cannes Film Festival, and was recently screened at the Toronto Film Festival. It has already won a BAFTA Film Award for Best Film not in the English Language, and a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film.

When Sorrentino accepted the Golden Globe in Los Angeles, he said, “Thank you, Italy! It's a truly strange country, but a beautiful one," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This weekend, the film is competing for Best Foreign Film at the Independent Spirit Awards against Jia Zhang-Ke for A Touch of Sin, Abdellatif Kechiche for Blue is the Warmest Color, Sebastian Lelio for Gloria, and Thomas Vinterberg for The Hunt, according to IFC.
