Patrick Stewart laughs at Guardian falsely outing him as homosexual

Sir Patrick Stewart is not gay, as his marriage to Sunny Ozell last fall will tell you, but the U.K. paper The Guardian said he was briefly. Stewart, who loves having fun on Twitter, laughed the situation off.

In the Guardian’s opinion piece about Ellen Page’s recent coming out, the writer called Stewart gay as she wrote about how the X-Men actor believed Page’s announcement was newsworthy. Readers pointed out the error and it was quickly corrected.

However, Stewart himself caught wind of the gaffe and found it hilarious. “Well, @guardian it makes for a nice change...at least I didn't wake up to the internet telling me I was dead again,” he wrote in one tweet. He also wrote to Poynter, “I have, like, five or even SEVEN hetero friends and we totally drink beer and eat lots of chicken wings!”

The Star Trek: The Next Generation star Ozell in September, with his close friend Ian McKellen officiating. The two will be seen together on the big screen again in X-Men: Days of Future Past this year.

After Page told a crowd at a Human Rights Campaign event that she is gay on Friday, Stewart retweeted Page's tweet, thanking her supporters. "And I'll chime in with mine," Stewart added.
