Pharrell Williams’ ‘G I R L’ solo album gets release date

Pharrell Williams had a great year in 2013 lending his talent and vocals to a number of tracks that topped the charts and his collaboration with Daft Punk even took home a Grammy but now Williams is turning the focus onto his solo project G I R L .

G I R L will be released globally on March 3rd, Billboard reported.

This is one of the first solo projects for Williams and G I R L will feature the Oscar nominated song, “Happy” which was featured on the soundtrack for the animated film Despicable Me 2.

Williams also being focused on his overall creativity and product was excited about the chance to make a solo record. “When Columbia Records presented me with the opportunity to make an album, three things came to mind, One was the sense of overwhelming honor that I felt when I realized that they were interested in partnering with me on the album that I had always dreamt of making. Two, it would have to feel festive and urgent. And three, I instantly knew it would be called ‘G I R L’. I hope you like it,” said Williams.

Vibe reported that the album is already available for pre sale on iTunes.

The “Happy” singer will be performing that single on the upcoming Academy Awards.
