'Ride Along' tops box office for third week

Universal Pictures’ Ride Along secured the number one spot in the box office for the third week in a row.
Starring Kevin Hart and rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube in a buddy cop comedy set in Atlanta, Ride Along took home $12.3 million this past week. ABC News reports Ride Along has already set January box office records. It made $48.6 million in its opening weekend, and has already garnered almost $100 million in box office sales worldwide. According to Rotten Tomatoes, over 70% of audience members liked the movie.
Disney’s Frozen made a box office comeback this weekend, as the LA Times reports that Frozen had a 1,000 theater showing of a special sing-along version of the family-friendly film, grabbing the number two box office spot with $9.3 million in sales. Focus Features’ new release That Awkward Moment , starring heartthrob Zac Efron, failed to beat Ride Along in its opening weekend.
Will Ride Along secure a fourth week as the box office champion, or will new comedy Caveman , out Friday, steal the spotlight?
