San Francisco 49ers sign Daniel Kilgore to three-year extension

The San Francisco 49ers signed their backup offensive lineman Daniel Kilgore to a three-year contract extension. The financial terms have not been disclosed yet. The 49ers' starting center Jonathan Goodwin is expected to test the free agency market as an unrestricted free agent.

Kilgore figures to be in the mix for a starting spot if Goodwin departs. He has experience at both the guard and center position. He has played in 33 games with the 49ers and in six playoff games the last two years.

According to The Associated Press, Kilgore was drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2011 draft out of Appalachian State.

Kilgore was arrested for public intoxication in Tennessee last month, according to NBC Sports. This has not affected his position with the 49ers though.

In a statement, General Manager Trent Baalke said that "we are pleased to extend the contract of a talented, young player like Dan."

The 49ers will look to contend for a Super Bowl again and dethrone their Super Bowl champion NFC West rival, the Seattle Seahawks.
