Suspected killer, Craig Michael Wood, was a quiet man in a band

Friends and people close to suspected killer, Craig Michael Wood, claim they never would think of him as a killer.

In a new story with USA Today, neighbors, friends and acquaintances close to Wood disclose that he was a quiet man who was in a bluegrass band.

The 45-year-old football coach and full-time teaching assistant was recently aressted for abducing and killing 10-year-old Hailey Owens while she walked home from a friends house in Springfield, MO.

One friend, Tom Mezzacapa, is shocked with the charge and tells the newspaper that he went to high school with Wood. The two were also altar boys together at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

“I always looked up to him,” Mezzacapa said. “He showed me the ropes as an altar boy.”

Upset with the shocking allegations, Mezzacapa adds, “It breaks my heart.”

USA Today also reports that Wood never had any children and never married. A source also says that the killer doesn’t have a girlfriend and hasn’t been seen dating anyone.

Wood is to remain in jail until the arraignment. The judge agreed at the discretion of the prosecutor that he is to be held without bond.
