t.A.T.u. tapped to play during opening ceremony of Winter Olympics

Russia pop duo t.A.T.u., known for their lesbian image, have been tapped to play during the opening ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympics.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the upcoming opening ceremony has mostly been a secret, but sources said that the Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova are set to play during a pre-warm up show, which won't be aired on TV.

They will then play their hit song "Not Gonna Get Us" while the Russian team enters into the stadium during the ceremony.

They originally tweeted they were set to perform, but quickly took it down and haven't spoken about it since.

Their performance is interesting, because though neither are actually gay, some of their songs tend to feature lyrics that would certainly go against Russia's controversial anti-gay propaganda laws. Their name is also a reference to two women having sex.

Us Weekly notes that their song and video for "All The Things She Said" is particularly suggestive as they are shown kissing in the rain.

The song also features the lyrics sung during the chorus, "I'm losing my mind. I need her."
