'The Lego Movie,' 'About Last Night' attract audiences for Valentine's Day box office

Warner Bros.' The Lego Movie is easily headed to a second straight weekend atop the box office, while Kevin Hart's new film About Last Night has started off strong.

Lego Movie pulled in $13.03 million, which was just enough to take Friday, reports Forbes. The animated film has now earned over $100 million at the box office as it heads into the holiday weekend. Estimates for the Warner Bros. film have it earning $52 million for the weekend.

Hart's comedy remake About Last Night drew in people looking for a romantic film and it grossed about $13 million, right behind Lego Movie. Depending on the weather, estimates have the film raking in about $35 million for the weekend. This film, which also stars Michael Ealy and Regina Hall, continues Hart's success at the 2014 box office, which began with Ride Along.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal's new film Endless Love also saw decent Friday numbers, with $7.3 million. The romantic remake is expected to earn about $20.4 million for the holiday weekend.

The third remake hitting theaters this weekend is RoboCop, which was right on the trail of Love and grossed $7 million. The film, which has taken in $11.9 million domestically, is projected to earn about $22 million for the weekend, which isn't great for the expensive film.

Monuments Men took in $5 million for Friday, which gives it the fifth spot at the box office and the film will likely make nearly $20 million in its second weekend.

The last new film of the weekend, Winter's Tale, did not start off well, grossing only $3.7 million. The Colin Farrell-starring film will be lucky to make about $11 million.
