This week in Apps: Paper, NBC Winter Olympics and LuckyPennie

This week’s featured apps include a new app to correspond with Facebook, a winter Olympics app and a new music app that helps discover music and concerts. Take a look at each one and its specs as to what makes them so noteworthy.

For those of us that find the Facebook app a little too cluttered, the social network company created Paper, a new app that lets Facebook users explore posts from their friends and others around the world. It will have your News Feed integrated along with your favorite topics to keep you entertained for hours. The app is customizable with your interests so nothing you don’t approve will show up. Apart from reading stories, both casual and noteworthy, videos are also available to watch. You can also view photos in a redesigned way to give you an up close and personal look at high-resolution pictures. The app is optimized for the iPhone 5, so it takes full advantage of the 3-D effects used for viewing photos.

The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics began this past Thursday with a bang. The opening day of the bi-yearly event also brought a new app to correspond with the events. The NBC Olympics Highlights and Results app lets fans interact with the games as they air on TV. The app has videos, photos and news for each sport featured in the Olympics this year. There are also athlete bios for featured competitors in the games. It allows users to follow scheduled broadcasts and results while they are televised on NBC.

LuckyPennie is just another music app to add to our evergrowing library of music apps, but this one brings a little something extra to the table. It allows users to meet friends who are interested in the same music you are. It allows you to begin a private message exchange with each other if you find mutual interests. It also lets users find local shows and what other users of the app will be attending. Apart from these special features, users of the app can discover new music to mirror their interests. They also have an LP Radio feature that has playlists created by music experts to get new music out to users.

Which of these apps will you be getting this week?
