Tom Coughlin signs contract extension with New York Giants

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has agreed to a one-year contract extension. The agreement will keep him with the Giants through the 2015 season. The upcoming season would have been his last had the deal not been made.

Coughlin announced the news Friday at the NFL scouting combine. According to cbssports the one-year contract is worth $7 million, but Coughlin does not seem overly excited saying, “I really haven't paid a lot of attention to it; it's not a big deal.” A year has been added to the contract."

Coughlin, 67, has at least two more seasons in his contract but what happens after that? According to newsday retirement plans are in the not-so-distant future for the experienced head coach.

Coughlin has earned two Super Bowl rings with the Giants and has high hopes for the 2014 season. He expects Eli Manning and the rest of the Giants to perform better than last year as they finished with a 7-9 record.
