'Tonight Show’ hits 15-month ratings high for penultimate week

Just five days before Jay Leno’s The Tonight Show goes off the air, the NBC talk show hits its highest ratings in 15 months.
Last night’s episode featured celebrity guest Tim Allen, animal expert Dave Salmoni, and recent Grammy Award performer Sara Bareilles. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Friday’s episode earned a 3.9 rating and a 9 share. The most recent episode of The Tonight Show to come close to these ratings was Leno’s interview with President Barack Obama in October 2012, which earned a 4.0 rating
Jay Leno’s final Tonight Show is set to air February 6th. Leno has served 21 years as the host of The Tonight Show , beginning in 1992. He took a brief hiatus in 2010 before returning for another four years. Country music superstar Garth Brooks and actor Billy Crystal areslated to appear on Leno’s final epsiode
The Tonight Show will be taken over by Jimmy Fallon after Leno’s retirement, yet the ratings prove that fans will be sad to see Leno go.
