Top 10 Boy Band Songs for Valentine's Day

Let’s just face it now and forever. The time has finally arrived to address this subject. Articles have been written about it and even celebrities have debated about it. But if nothing else, This Is the End (2013) proved it when they brought Backstreet Boys to heaven: boy bands will always find their way into the hearts of fans no matter the time period. ‘N Sync proved it when they dominated the charts in the 90s, and One Direction proved it when they sold out stadiums around the world. Whether if their sole purpose be to provide classic songs that will forever be sung during karaoke or provide beauty to the world (there’s always at least one), boy bands have found a special place in the hearts of past and future generations. Luckily, they even come in handy when Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.
Depending on if you’ll be cuddling tightly with that special loved one or watching Endless Love alone in the back of the theater, Valentine’s Day will either make Friday the best or worst day of the week. On a happier note, it will be Friday fun day. And on an even happier note, there are at least five men out in the world that want you to know “(God Must Have Spent) A Little More Time On You”.
Take this Valentine’s Day to reflect on the little things. Better yet, focus on the tunes from these boy bands that can make that day just a little better.

10. BBMak: “Back Here”
All hail the days of slightly spiked hair. The 90s offered a mixture of memorable and cheesy music (with some songs fitting into both categories). I’ll let you decided which category this one falls in. On the plus side, we have three males singing at a train station serenading a woman they just can’t get out of their minds. This video has three lads with serious harmony willing to take public transportation to get you to notice them. That’s real love.

9. Dru Hill: “We’re Not Making Love No More”
Sisqo may have made a memorable moment in music history when he made the “Thong Song”, but it was his days with Dru Hill that showed the serious talent he had as a singer. This song in particular begs to question how two people in a relationship can get back on track when it feels like everything about them is following apart. This shows that all group songs don’t particularly deal with living in a happy world where everyone is happy, but shows how relationships are complex things that take a team to work. What a message.

8. 2Gether: “Calculus”
2Gether was a band that was formed on a television show on MTV. The show made fun of stereotypical bands and the roles at least one person in the group had to fulfill. There were spoofs of songs making fun of getting together or breaking up, but this song in particular can be categorized as a love song of the books. The lyrics are openly comical, but the overall message is a cute one: knowing calculus helps you understand “you plus me equals us.”

7. Boyz II Men: “Doin Just Fine”
Sometimes Valentine’s Day can bring to mind the tale of a good or bad break up. In either case, Boyz II Men will help you get through it. But beware the possible tears. “Doin’ Just Fine” calls to attention how even after someone leaves you in the dust, you can end up doing better than either of you expected. Take a note from this group: you’ll get over it all soon enough.

6. Soul Decision: “Faded”
What’s Valentine’s Day without a “sexy” song in the midst, right? While “Faded” by Soul Decision may not be the Channing Tatum of Magic Mike, it’s catchy enough to sing along to and move along with. You may catch yourself singing the chorus before the song is over. It’ll make you feel good on the lovey dovey day if nothing else.

[new page= 98°: “The Hardest Thing”]
5. 98°: “The Hardest Thing”
In all actuality, this song is most likely about a guy telling his mistress that he can’t be with her because it’s hurting the girl that he’s actually dating. So, a cheating song for Valentine’s Day? Maybe not such a good idea.

[new page= ‘N Sync: “I Want You Back”]
4. ‘N Sync: “I Want You Back”
Five guys in over-sized clothing finally realize that the girl they let go is all they want. Not only will it bring along some 90s nostalgia, but if you’re thinking about calling your ex to get them back just for the special day, you may want to play this outside of their window with a stereo.

[new page= One Direction: “Little Things”]
3. One Direction: “Little Things”
Just when it was thought boy bands were a thing of the past, one Irish and four British boys come along to bring back the screaming girls, harmonious voices, and massive sellouts of stadiums. “Little Things”, written by Ed Sheeran, is one of the most noticeable songs by the five not only because of the amazing black and white close-ups of all of their faces as they sing looking directly into your soul, but the sweet lyrics that come along with the song. Overall, this song explains how all the little imperfections you have make their heart race a little faster. Perfect song for this day.

[new page= Backstreet Boys: “Shape Of My Heart”]
2. Backstreet Boys: “Shape of My Heart”
The Backstreet Boys were one of the two at the top of the boy band game in the 90s. “Shape of My Heart”, not to be confused with the Sting song, is a confession of how you, yes you baby girl, can help them be the men they were destined to be with your love. It’s an apology and a love confession all in one.

[new page= ‘N Sync: “This I Promise You”]
1. ‘N Sync: “This I Promise You”
It was completely necessary for ‘N Sync to be here twice simply because of the amazing dance moves, singing voices, and bright clothing this band wasn’t afraid to wear. On a more serious note, these five knew how to get the ladies’ attention with their songs. “This I Promise You” is used as a wedding song because Justin Timberlake is saying he will love you until “your life is through”. That’s a huge commitment. Take Timberlake, or maybe a significant other, up to the challenge this Valentine’s Day.
