Two Louisiana children die from flu

Flu season has begun to spread throughout Louisiana, and two more children died from their illnesses.

According to NOLA, these two deaths bring the total terminal pediatric flu-related deaths up to four in Louisiana. The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals released this information on account of the children's deaths.

The ages of the children and where they lived cannot be released due to federal patient confidentiality laws. However, the location of their deaths was revealed.

One of the children died in southwest Louisiana, and the other died in the southeast area of Louisiana, according to The Associated Press.

The flu death count since Oct. 1 rises to 53 in Louisiana, but health experts say this number is not entirely accurate because hundreds of deaths happen without any diagnosis.

Physicians have recommended that children start getting their flu shots as soon as they are over six months old, and it can take up to ten days to fully protect the body from getting infected.
