Winning Powerball lottery ticket worth $425M sold in California

The Powerball lottery has continued to be a craze across the United States, and another lucky winner purchased the winning ticket in Milpitas, California.

USA Today reports that the winning numbers are 1, 17, 35, 49, 54 and 34. The ticket was sold at a Dixon Landing Chevron gas station, and the jackpot stands at $425 million. The jackpot jumped to over $400 million after no Saturday tickets were sold when the jackpot was $330 million.

According to Chicago Tribune, this is the sixth biggest prize in lottery history and fourth in Powerball history. The winner's identity has not been revealed yet, but the Chevron gas station will earn a $1 million bonus for selling the ticket.

No top prize has been awarded for the lottery since Christmas Day. The biggest Powerball prize of all time is worth $590 million, which was awarded to a woman from Florida in May 2013.

Powerball is played in 43 U.S. states along with Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 175 million.
