Amazon Studios gives six pilots full season orders, 'Alpha House' earns second season

Amazon announced the six pilots from its latest pilot season that have earned series orders. Two hour-long dramas, including one from X-Files creator Chris Carter, and two comedies were picked up, along with two new children’s shows.

The pilots have been available since early February and Amazon puts in series orders based on responses from viewers. The six that got picked up received the best responses.

Carter’s show is The After, which features eight strangers linked by a mysterious force and they need each other to survive. “Amazon has been incredibly supportive in their approach to telling original stories and making great television. This is an exciting time to be a storyteller,” Carter said in a statement.

The other drama is Bosch, which is based on Michael Connolly’s books about an LAPD homicide detective. It stars Titus Weaver, Annie Wesching and Jamie Hector.

The two comedies that got the green light are Mozart in the Jungle from Jason Schwartzman and Roman Coppola, and Jill Soloway’s Transparent with Jeffrey Tambor.

Live-action children’s show Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street and animated Wishenpoof! were also given full seasons.

All six shows will only be available for Prime Instant Video, a service covered in the Amazon Prime membership.
