Angelina Jolie needs to complete one more surgery to prevent cancer

Angelina Jolie is taking the initiative once again to prevent being diagnosed with any form of cancer.

According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Hollywood starlet is proud to say she has the biggest support group who helped her get through a difficult time.

The 38-year-old actress lost her mother to ovarian cancer and her aunt to breast cancer but also carries the BRCA1 gene. This makes it 87 percent more possible for her to get breast cancer.

Last year, Jolie has a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery when she discovered the gene and wrote about her experience that year in an opinion piece for The New York Times.

“Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could,” she wrote in the piece from 2013. “I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy. I started with the breasts, as my risk of breast cancer is higher than my risk of ovarian cancer, and the surgery is more complex.”

But in the interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this month, the mother of six said she has one more surgery to complete.

“There’s still another surgery to have, which I haven’t yet. I’ll get advice from all these wonderful people who I’ve been talking to, to get through that next stage.”

She continued, “I was very fortunate to have great doctors and very, very fortunate to have a good recovery and have a project like Unbroken to have something to be really focused on, to be getting healthy for and to be able to just get right back to work.”

“I was very, very moved by all the support and kindness from so many people,” she said.
