Arclight Films has put the movie ‘Deep Water’ on hold

Production of a movie called Deep Water, has halted due to a flight in Malaysia that disappeared in the Indian Ocean.

According to the Associated Press, Managing Director Gary Hamilton said, "We're delaying it out of respect for what's going on."

The film has been put on hold due to the tragic accident regarding the Malaysia Airlines jet that disappeared from March 8 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Malaysian officials have finally released information that they believe the jet crashed and that 239 people have lost their lives.

The movie that has been delayed is not exactly the same, but it does deal with a plane crash. Deep Water was set to be a follow-up to the 2012 movie, Bait, which is a movie about a shark that terrifies shoppers in a grocery store in Australia. In the film, a flight from Sydney to Beijing crashes in the ocean. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the movie’s plot has “uncomfortable similarities” to the disappearance of Flight MH370.

Government film agency, Screen Australia, was funding Deep Water. The film was budgeted at $25 million. According to reported information from the Australian publication, Inside Film, the movie was set to be a production with China.
