Brittany Murphy's final film, 2009's 'Something Wicked' gets release date

The final film Brittany Murphy made before she died four years ago, Something Wicked, finally has a release date. The indie film will start being shown at the Regal Valley River Center 15 in Eugene, Oregon and later shown in Regal Cinemas in Portland and Seattle.

Something Wicked will hit theaters in Oregon on April 4, which is where the movie was filmed back in 2009.

According to the film’s Facebook page, if the film does well in those locations, there’s a good chance other cities will be able to see Murphy’s final performance.

“We'll roll out to several Regal Cinemas in Portland and Seattle the following weeks, with more theaters to come. The better we do in theaters, the more cities will be added so we need your help getting the word out. Full press release to be posted shortly. Stay Wicked!” a message on the page stated.

Also starring in the thriller with Murphy are Shantel VanSanten and Julian Morris, E! Online reports.

Murphy died in 2009 at the age of 32 of pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication and her husband, Simon Monjack, died of acute pneumonia and severe anemia just five months later. As we previously reported, Murphy’s father, Angelo Bertolotti, insisted in Nov. 2013 that the couple were poisoned to death. He sued the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office and the Los Angeles Police Department in order to re-open the investigation but the case was dismissed.
