Heroin found in toddler's jacket at New Jersey daycare

A New Jersey man, Phillip Young, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after several envelopes filled with heroin were found in his child's jacket pocket at a daycare in Paterson, New Jersey.

According to CBS 12, a daycare worker uncovered 48 glassine envelopes of heroin inside the toddler's jacket.

When the packets were discovered, the employee immediately notified the Paterson Police Department. It was established that the 2 year old's father had brought the child to the daycare center earlier that day.

NY Daily News noted that the police officers determined the child was unaware of the drugs being stuffed inside of his jacket pocket.

Parents are considering not sending their children back to the daycare since they were not informed of the findings at the childcare center and argue that they have the right to know when a situation like this occurs.

"My daughter sees something on the floor, puts it in her mouth thinking it's candy, same thing could have happened here," said parent Dulce Ibanez.

It is believed that none of the other children were in any contact with the drugs that were found.

The Paterson Police Department has arrested Phillip Young and he is being held at the detention center on a bail of $85,000.
