Back in 2012 before it was announced that J.J. Abrams would be directing the new Star Wars franchise, it was rumored that Jon Favreau might be directing the new films in the famous sci-fi franchise.
Favreau is has a connection already to Star Wars, he is a character in the Star Wars: Clone War series that is currently airing, Entertainment Wise reported.
The Iron Man director spoke about the chance to work on Star Wars in a recent interview with MTV. “I didn’t go after it but it’s one of those things that, as people would say they weren’t going to do it, and as there were questions coming my way as to my availability… I was really scared of the idea that nobody was gonna [do it], and so if they had come to me, I don’t know how you say no to that thing,” said Favreau.
Despite not being offered the film Favreau is very happy for Abrams and thinks he is a great choice to move the franchise forward. “He’s great because he works with the old generation, and he works with the new generation,” Favreau said.
