Long Island man charged with uncle's murder

A Long Island man has been arrested for the murder of his uncle.

Jonathan Roman, 42, of Coram was arrested Friday for the murder of his uncle, 71-year-old John Frankowski of New Hyde Park.

According to Newsday, John Frankowski had been reported missing for eight days before his body was found buried in a wooded area behind Roman’s home.

The victim was reported missing by his son, John Frankowski jr., who lives in Florida. The two spoke everyday, so when he couldn’t reach his father, Frankowski jr. knew immediately that something was amiss.

While the cause of death has yet to be released, Roman reportedly killed his uncle due to a disagreement, which escalated and resulted in Frankowski’s death, according to CBS New York.

According to Roman’s neighbors, authorities have been in his home since early Thursday and a police helicopter was seen around the time the body was discovered.

“The only thing I saw was just the cops sitting there and everything was blocked off," said neighbor Diana DiPisa, 32.

Roman was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday morning.
