Radio station KVVF has played Nelly's "Hot in Herre" for 20 hours

A San Francisco radio station, KVVF 105.7, has been playing one song, "Hot in Herre," on loop for the past 20 hours. The strange repetition of one of Nelly’s most popular hits began Friday at 3 p.m.

The radio station’s airtime has strictly been dedicated to this one song, which left listeners curious as to why. Even Twitter users became aware of the odd occurrence, and a hashtag, “#nelly1057,” picked up steam. People were unaware if the station was experiencing technical difficulties or if the DJ decided to go on a hiatus, as reported by Rolling Stone.

The mystery soon became solved. The loop was released in order to indicate a radio station relaunch. The Latino station will make a transformation to an English-language contemporary station, to be named "Hot 105.7," with the help of Nelly, according to RadioInsight.

The seemingly never-ending loop of one song is known as “stunting” and is often used by radio stations when switching sounds. A Toronto radio station, Indie88, used this transitioning method by playing “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley for an entire week.

For those worried that “Hot in Herre” will be stuck on 105.7 forever, don’t worry; it will cease somewhere in the near future. The station already has a Facebook page. Its first post on YouTube was, of course, “Hot in Herre,” with a caption that said “You feeling Hot?”
