San Diego Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin out 2-3 months

San Diego Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin is expected to be out for two to three weeks. He ruptured his left biceps tendon while making a diving catch during spring training.

According to CBS Sports, Maybin was hurt for almost all of the 2013 season. He only played 14 games due to a right wrist injury. He also tore a ligament in his left knee. These injuries forced Maybin to go through surgery.

Maybin has played with the Padres since the 2011 season. He hit .264 with four home runs and stole 40 bases, and he followed that up with eight home runs and 26 stolen bases in the 2012 season.

Maybin's production in 2011 was rewarded with a $25 million contract extension over five years, according to Reuters.

Will Venable is expected to start at center field while Maybin is out, and he will be joined by left fielder Carlos Quentin and right fielder Seth Smith. Chris Denorfia will likely receive significant playing time in the outfield as well.
