Seattle police not re-opening investigation into Kurt Cobain's death but cold case detective did look it over recently

Police have reopened the investigation into the death of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain almost 20 years after his death.

Seattle’s Kiro TV reports pictures from the scene of his death – four rolls of film to be exact - are being examined by police that have been sitting in a Seattle police evidence vault.

Although they have turned green due to deterioration over the years, law enforcement officials say they’re clearer than the polaroids that were examined the day of his death in 1994.

Three days after he was found with a gunshot wound to the head and a lethal dose of heroin in his system, the medical examiner ruled he had died of a suicide.

Police have told The Seattle Times, however, that the case is not being re-opened for investigation as there are no new findings to investigate.

Police spokeswoman Renee Witt only said a cold case detective looked at the files of the original investigation into his death. “He dug up the files and had another look and there was nothing new,” said Witt.

Although his death was ruled of a suicide, some believe he was murdered.
