Taylor Swift gets restraining order against stalker who claims he’s her husband

Country superstar Taylor Swift has been granted a restraining order against a stalker who has claimed that he is her husband and would kill anyone who stops him from contacting her. Swift claims that the stalker has been a problem for her since January 2011.

Court documents obtained by TMZ show that Swift received several emails and social media messages from Timothy Sweet, who told her repeatedly that he loved her.

“If anyone in Taylor Swift's family gets killed, it is not my fault,” one of the messages allegedly read. In another, he refers to the “22” singer as his wife, adding, “I am in love with her. In conclusion, we treat each other with dignity and respect. I will carry a gun to protect her the rest of my life.”

In a third, Sweet said he would even kill Secretary of State John Kerry if he kept him from Swift.

E! News reports that in the court documents, filed in Los Angeles, Swift asked that the restraining order also be expanded to include her parents and brother. Swift said that she does “not have desire to interact with or communicate in any way with Mr Sweet.”

The judge granted Swift’s request, barring Sweet from communicating with Swift over the Internet. He also has to stay 100 yards away from the singer.
