TV Ratings: 'Scandal' tops night, 'American Idol' falls

With little original competition on Thursday night, ABC lead the way thanks to Scandal, while American Idol fell in the demo.

ABC averaged a 2.0 in the 18-49 demographic and 6.8 million viewers. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was steady with a 0.8 in the demo, reports HitFix. Grey's Anatomy improved to a 2.4 as did Scandal which was up to a 2.9 demo rating without Elementary to snag viewers away.

Though Fox averaged only a 1.8 in the demo, the network won in total viewers with 6.83 million. Hell's Kitchen was relatively steady with a 1.7 in the demo, but American Idol hit another new low with a 1.9 in the demo.

CBS aired primetime coverage of the NCAA Tournament, which was down from the previous year, in early ratings returns, with a 1.1 in the demo and 3.75 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

NBC tied CBS in the demo, but averaged 3.5 million viewers. Community was up to a 1.1 in the demo and Parks and Recreation remained steady with a 1.2 in the demo. Parenthood was also even with a 1.2 demo rating.

The CW averaged a 0.9 in the demo and 1.9 million viewers as Reign improved slightly to a 0.7 in the demo. Vampire Diaries remained even with a 1.0 in the demo.
