Though American Idol was beaten by both Survivor and Modern Family in the ratings, Fox still won Wednesday night by a hair.

Fox and Idol averaged 10.11 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in the advertiser-important 18-49 demographic, reports HitFix. The demo number is down from the previous week.

CBS came right behind in the demo with a 2.3 rating, but edged out Fox in viewership with 10.19 million. Survivor averaged a 2.5 in the demo, while Criminal Minds slipped to a 2.3 key demo rating. CSI ended the night up with a 2.0 in the demo.

ABC was a distant third with a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo and an average audience of 5.9 million for the night, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Middle was steady with a 1.9 rating, while suburgatory and Modern Family dropped for the evening with a 1.4 and 3.3 in the demo, respectively. Nashville also slipped for the night to a 1.4 rating.

NBC averaged 5.6 million viewers and a 1.5 in the demo and though behind all the other major networks, saw either growth or steady numbers. Revolution was even with a 1.3 in the demo as did Law & Order: SVU with a 1.6 rating. Chicago P.D. was up for the night to a 1.6 in the demo.

The CW aired only encores for the evening and averaged a 0.3 in the demo and 945,000 viewers.
