Washington Redskins agree to terms with Jason Hatcher

The Washington Redskins signed defensive end Jason Hatcher to a four-year contract worth $27.5 million, snatching him away from the Dallas Cowboys, their divisional rival.

According to ESPN, this is the Redskins' biggest free agency deal this offseason. They are looking to improve their defense, particularly their pass rush.

Hatcher is coming off a career year where he registered 11 sacks. However, he will be switching from the Cowboys' 4-3 scheme to a 3-4 in Washington, so it is unknown how Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett plans to utilize Hatcher.

According to NBC Sports, Hatcher also garnered interest from the Seahawks, Raiders and Titans after his Pro Bowl season.

The Redskins have added other pieces to their defense as well from the free agency pool. Cornerback Tracy Porter and inside linebacker Darryl Sharpton have also been signed by the Redskins in an effort to bolster their 31st-ranked scoring defense.

The Redskins will look to put their disappointing 2013 season behind them, which included a hobbled Robert Griffin III and 3-13 record.
