11-year-old shot dead by toddler brother

An 11-year-old Philadelphia girl was shot dead by her toddler brother on the morning of April 5.

According to The New York Daily News , Jamara Stevens was home with her mother and three siblings when her mother left the room in which the 11-year-old was playing with her 2-year-old brother. At some point, the toddler picked up a loaded gun and shot his sister.

The bullet pierced the girl’s arm, went through her chest, and into her heart.

According to philly.com, when authorities arrived, Stevens being held in the arms of her mother, Tiffany Goldwire.

She was pronounced dead at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

It was reported the gun was brought into Tiffany Goldwire’s home the night before the tragic shooting by the woman’s boyfriend. The weapon was placed atop a refrigerator, but one of Jamara Stevens’ siblings is said to have moved it, which is how it came into the possession of the toddler.

No charges have been filed against anyone.
