Billy Corgan announces limited-edition album release

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan announced he will be releasing his new album AEGEA in only a limited release of 250 hand numbered copies.

Calling the album “experimental” Corgan originally recorded the album in 2007, according to Rolling Stone, and will initially be pressed to 250 copies on vinyl, which the singer stated he will annotate and hand number himself. The two record set will sell for $60.

Corgan stated on his website, “As a work, AEGEA is experimental in nature, and comes across as more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I’m usually associated with. Corgan went on to suggested the album has qualities “both meditative and alien, but not alienating.”

Only a couple weeks ago Corgan also stated on the Smashing Pumpkins website two new albums are on the way for the band, which are set for a 2015 release, titled Monuments to an Elegy and Day For Night.

AEGEA is due out sometime in the next six to eight weeks.
