'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' zooms past $300 million at global box office

Captain America: The Winter Soldier isn’t just striking gold at home. The Marvel Studios film is also reeling in huge amounts overseas and could soon pass Captain America: The First Avenger’s entire total in less than two weeks.

The Winter Soldier got a head start before opening in North America on Friday. In just 10 days, the film has already made $207.1 million overseas, notes The Hollywood Reporter. That’s already more than The First Avenger, which stalled overseas with $193.9 million during its run.

Back at home, Disney and Marvel couldn’t be happier with the results. The well-reviewed film made a whopping $96.2 million in North America, reports EW. The film, which stars Chris Evans as Captain America, broke the record for the best April opening ever, passing Fast Five’s $86.2 million opening in 2011.

As audiences rushed to see The Winter Soldier, they mostly avoided everything else. Paramount and Darren Aronofsky's Noah only made $19 million in its second weekend. It has only made $72.3 million and cost the studio reportedly $125 million to make.

Divergent passed $100 million this weekend with $13 million. The YA film has hit $114 million domestically.

God’s Not Dead added $7.7 million, while Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel rounded out the Top 5 with $6.3 million.
