Drake calls ESPYs hosting gig a 'dream' because he wants to 'follow in the footsteps' of Jamie Foxx's career

There’s no question that many look up to Drake for inspiration, but who is it that the “Started From the Bottom” looks for his own personal motivation? As he revealed in a new interview, Drake hopes to emulate the career of Jamie Foxx.

During a chat with ESPN following his ESPYs hosting gig announcement, the rapper said he looks up to the Django Unchained star in “every aspect of life.”

The hosting announcement might have surprised some, but Drake revealed it’s been a “dream” of his for some time.

“It's been a dream of mine for a long time," he said. "I watched a guy that I look up to in every aspect of life, Jamie Foxx, do it. I always say, if I can follow in his footsteps, that'll be a great career for me. So, I was blessed with the opportunity to do it. SNL gave me the confidence to do it and here I am.”

Drake definitely isn’t just a rapper. He got his start as an actor on the Canadian soap opera Degrassi then he broke into the music industry in a big way under the YMCMB label. He hosted Saturday Night Live earlier this year, appearing in a few skits, and he even performed as musical guest as well.

The ESPYs will take place on July 16.
