George Clooney, hotel developer Steve Wynn both comment on explosive argument over Las Vegas dinner

George Clooney and his longtime friend, hotel developer Steve Wynn, got into a head argument over dinner in Las Vegas. They’re both commenting on their fight, but the two sides are offering up pretty different versions of the events that transpired.

Clooney issued a statement through his rep, saying “He called the president an asshole ... that is a fact.”

According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, Wynn argued that Clooney got “drunk” off tequila and acted inappropriately.

“There were nine people at that table ... so you can ask them. ... Steve likes to go on rants,” Clooney also said about the dinner. “I said the President was my longtime friend and then he said ‘your friend is an asshole.’ ... At that point I told Steve that HE was an asshole and I wasn’t going to sit at his table while he was being such a jackass.”

This all happened two weeks ago at a restaurant called Botero, which is located inside of Encore, one of Wynn’s hotels. The Oscar winning actor was there for the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America convention to promote his tequila Casamigos.

In a phone interview, Wynn criticized Clooney for drinking. “Clooney’s fun to be with when he’s sober. If you have a chance to drink with him, you want to get there early, and don’t stay late,” he said. Wynn also said everyone in his business knows that with actors, to take them “with a grain of salt.”

The hotelier said when the conversation turned to the Affordable Care Act and Wynn voiced his objections, Clooney was not happy, Daily News reports.

“When he’s drinking, he considers himself a close personal buddy of the president,” said Wynn.
