Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signs law on expansion of gun owners' rights

In an important move involving gun law, Georgia’s governor signed a bill this Wednesday saying that people with a license can carry a gun into bars, some government buildings, and even some places of worship.

According to the Associated Press, a few hundred advocates of gun rights watched Gov. Nathan Deal sign the bill, along with top officials including House Speaker David Ralston and bill sponsor Rep. Rick Jasperse.

With the new bill, even workers in some school districts would be able to carry a firearm under certain conditions. The bill has gotten support from the NRA and other groups. Colin Goddard, who works with the advocacy group Everytown For Gun Safety, called the bill "unprecedented." Goddard said, “The Stand Your Ground expansion is truly a new type of Stand Your Ground as we know it.” Stand Your Ground is also called the "guns everywhere" bill.

According to The Huffington Post, the National Rifle Association has also strongly supported the bill, and they say it represents a great victory for the second amendment. They have called it "the most comprehensive pro-gun reform legislation introduced in recent state history."
