Greg Kinnear’s ‘Heaven Is for Real’ has a $3.7 million opening day

In time for Easter, Heaven Is for Real, dazzled audiences with an opening day gross of $3.7 million.

The film opened on Wednesday in preparation for the big holiday weekend. Heaven Is for Real stars Greg Kinnear, according to Variety. Heaven Is for Real is about a boy who goes through a near-death experience.

Kelly Reilly, Thomas Haden Church, Jacob Vargas, and Nancy Sorel are also featured in the film, according to the The Hollywood Reporter.

Pastor T.D. Jakes, director Randall Wallace, and Hollywood veteran Joe Roth worked together to produce the movie. It is the story of the real life pastor from Nebraska and his son who endured emergency surgery. The movie is based on Todd Burpo’s book, Heaven Is for Real. The book was co-written by Lynn Vincent.

Other religious films to make it to the movie theaters this year include Son of God, Noah, and God’s Not Dead. Heaven Is for Real comes from Sony.
