Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds to star in Nazi stolen art movie 'Woman in Gold'

The recovery of art stolen by the Nazis during World War II must be a hot topic in Hollywood. After George Clooney brought The Monuments Men to the big screen, Helen Mirren is set to lead another project with stolen art at the center. It’s titled Woman in Gold and will co-star Ryan Reynolds and Rush’s Daniel Bruhl.

Mirren is already on board, with the male cast both still in talks with The Weinstein Company, reports Deadline. The Oscar winner has been tapped to play Maria Altmann, a Jewish refugee from Austria attempting to get her art back after it was stolen during the war. Reynolds will play her attorney and Bruhl was cast as his opponent.

According to Variety, My Week With Marilyn director Simon Curtis will helm the project. Alexi Campbell wrote the script and production could start as soon as next month.

Reynolds recently made Mississippi Grind and is trying to make everyone forget about his summer 2013 flop RIPD. As for Bruhl, he earned acclaim for his role in Ron Howard’s Rush and is in Anton Corbijn’s A Most Wanted Man.
