Justin Bieber released after four hours of detainment at LAX

Justin Bieber has been released from Los Angeles International airport after being held by authorities at a U.S. Customs and Border Control area.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Bieber was immediately detained after landing in L.A. from Asia, where he was questioned by officials at the U.S. Customs and Border Control.

A spokesperson for Bieber told The Hollywood Reporter that he was released three to four hours later that evening.

In the face of a petition to the White House that recently surfaced demanding that the 20-year-old pop star be deported to Canada, this doesn’t mean that will be happening anytime soon. It is a routine procedure for non-citizens to be questioned by Immigration and Customs Enforcement when entering the US. It would take a being convicted of a violent crime or over a year’s time in prison, for someone to have a visa revoked.

Prior to his release, Bieber’s trial in Miami for DUI charges was postponed to May, after his lawyers requested more time to discuss plea deals and look at evidence.
